Arnie is left home alone, which means it's party time for this pooch and his canine friends. Music is playing, and dogs are dancing, but Stanley the Squirrel wants in, too. He's never been to a party. As things start to get out of hand, Arnie rushes around cleaning. Stanley observes, undetected, shocked by these party animals' behavior. When Arnie's owner, Lucy, arrives home early, you'll be surprised who gets blamed for this party disaster.
"A fun and engaging story with Party at Arnie's. The story can teach children about being responsible and that sometimes pets can be extremely messy. The illustrations are detailed and young readers will love the different dogs and their antics. The story was well-written, and entertaining, and I liked how it ended, though poor Stanley did get the blame for it all. The author has a talent for telling a good story and making it fun. I think that kids who like dogs will love the book and it would suit the 3 - 6 age range. I would recommend Party at Arnie's." -Reviewed by Samantha Gregory for Readers' Favorite

Everyone assumes Harry can't listen like he's supposed to, so it's no surprise that he doesn't respond during the hearing test at school. However, the test reveals it's not that Harry isn't listening, it's that he has trouble hearing. Harry has missed out on so much, but there is hope. Once Harry is fitted with hearing aids, he discovers the joy of all he had been missing out on.
School Library Journal Review: "What a service this picture book does in bringing attention to hearing loss in children and how hearing aids can help. It's an excellent example of representation for the hard of hearing, whether mild or profound. Harry doesn't feel weird or self-conscious about his hearing aids; they're seen as something cool and necessary. Harry's a charmer; the colorful and detailed illustrations add to the positive, lighthearted tone.”

5 star review from Readers' Favorite: For adults looking to give the children in their lives the gift of understanding diverse experiences, Harry Can Hear is a wonderful book to add to their collections. Fynisa Engler tactfully shows how those around Harry were under the mistaken impression that Harry never listened, and the impact that this had on Harry’s life.
Milanka Reardon illustrated an expressive and joyful protagonist who is adorable, playful, and exciting to follow from page one. The beautiful pictures, along with language simple enough to be mastered by early readers, make this tale a must-read.

Child of the Sea
written by Maxine Rose Schur and illustrated by Milanka Reardon
Lawley Publishing
- When a fisherman finds a baby girl in his net, he and his wife are overjoyed. After so many years, their wish for a child has finally come true! Yet the couple's love for the girl is challenged when they realize that love sometimes calls for painful decisions. --Maxine Rose Schur
My favorite books as a child were folktales and fairy tales. When I read CHILD OF THE SEA, I was brought back to all that I loved in those old stories and I found myself happily lost in the glorious illustrations. The story has a fresh feel to it, but manages to retain a vintage flavor - and will spark kids' imaginations and an awareness of the importance of a sense of belonging. Lovely read-aloud at bedtime or anytime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Huge Serving of Engaging Story and Gorgeous Illustrations with a Dollop of Vintage Folktale Magic!
I was captivated by this cover. Not only because I adore the ocean and collecting sea shells, but the colors, the title, and the girl's enraptured face totally intrigued me. As you'll see, the book definitely lives up to its promise. Like most folktales, it's full of hope, heart, and sacrifice.
...The dedication/copyright page, portrays how Milanka's softly-colored, almost ephemeral illustrations really heighten the folktale feel of the book.
...The final image is a beautiful tribute to the love that remains, when we are all allowed to be who we are.
